Yellow indicating our interpretation of identifying information

A: Welcome Maaike, nice that you are here.

B: Nice to see you too Ricarda, happy to be here.

A: So what we want to do today is test the anonymisation tool Textwash or FAMTAFOS that was developed by Bennett Kleinberg and colleagues.

B: Yes, we want to try ourselves if we can de-identify all the identifying information in this little audiosegment we are recording. It will serve as a test in our workshop Making Qualitative Data Reusable that we will hold during the DCC Spring Training Days on May 23rd 2024.

A: Right so to already throw in some identifying details - right now it is Tuesday 23 April 2024 11:00.

B: Indeed, and we are located at DANS - Data Archiving and Networked Services - in conference room V2 of the DANS building at Anna van Saksenlaan 51 in the Hague. Right across from NWO.

A: That is correct. So Maaike tell me a bit more about yourself? Where do you live? How old are you? When did you start working at DANS? And what is your current role in the organisation?

B: Yes, lets see if all these identifying details are picked up in this experiment:
- So my name is Maaike Verburg
- I live in Alphen aan den Rijn
- I am 27 years old
- I started working for DANS in 2021
- Currently I am part of the Expert Section as a Research Data Management Specialist. To make it more specific, I am also part of the smaller Training Team at DANS.
How about you, Ricarda?

A:
- I am Dr. Ricarda Braukmann
- I live in Utrecht but travel to the Hague for two days a week at least
- I am 36 years old
- I started working for DANS about 6 years ago. It was my first job after my PhD actually.
- I started out being part of the Expert section just like you, Maaike but I am now part of the Data Section as Data Station Manager Social Sciences.

B: Thank you for sharing this! I think the work we do at DANS is really great actually, especially doing trainings together and promoting Open Science and FAIR Data like this.

A: Yes, I am already very much looking forward to our workshop on the 23rd of May! And actually I am very curious about the performance of the anonymisation tool.

B: Yes, me too. Shall we stop here and try it out?

A: Yes, lets get to work!
